List Netiquette

I've never made one of these, be patient and kind please.

1 - As in all email, remember that people can't see your face or interpret your body language.  Use emoticons and additions like "LOL" (laugh out loud) even if you think they're dumb.  They actually work as a substitute for facial expressions and body language.

2 - Always be as respectful as possible, even to people who don't seem to deserve it at all.  (This rule has BROAD application throughout all of life's little encounters.)  If people get rude here they'll be removed from the list, plain and simple.  Nobody has a constitutional right to be on this list or any kind of free speech right to practice flame-type bullshit here.  Practice it elsewhere.

3 - Stay "on topic" as often as possible.  Or else (if you're changing the subject) change the subject header!

4 -- NO ATTACHMENTS.  They will be stripped out or your message will just be rejected by the List software.  If you want to share a file, tell people about it and ask them to write you with their email addresses and youll send it to them individually.  If it's really really great, ask the list if somebody will put it on a website and send a link to the List.

5 -- Quote the part of an email to which you're responding.  Paste it in, or set your email program to automatically quote the message to which you're replying.
