Meetings

Monthly meetings start at 6:00 and run until about 8:00. They are held on the second Tuesday of each month upstairs at Lafayette Brewing Co. There are often club announcements about upcoming events and competitions, and a loosely organized meeting theme. Themes range from style focused samplings (e.g. IPA night), to club competitions (e.g. Strong Ale competition), and short educational topics (e.g. How to make healthy yeast).

You can bring homebrew to meetings, but please don't bring commercial beer. If you've never brewed before or don't have any beer bottles don't worry about it. Come anyway! If you've never been upstairs at LBC the doorway is along the front left wall.

Bring one bottle of your +6% ABV beers for the chance to be the clubs biggest bestest beer brewer for 2011! The list of winners will be displayed at Lafayette Brewing Co.'s 2011 Winter Warmer, and those willing to donate will be featured at the event.

UPDATE: Congratulations to Jarrod Doucette for his Weizenbock that took first place with a 38 points and Lloyd Chatham for his Wee Heavy that took second place with 35 points! Honorable mentions to Alan Schwab for his 3 year old Barleywine, Lloyd for his Old Ale, and Jarrod for his Russian Imperial Stout.

Events

Events are typically longer than meetings and occur on weekends. They are often brewdays, but also include things such as brewery trips and beer competitions.

Brew days often last 4-8 hours. There will usually be a few people brewing if the weather is nice. Most people bring beer, wine, mead, cider, etc. that they have made for others to sample. There is often food ranging from cookies to grilled meat at meetings, although the only thing you are required to bring is a love for beer, or wine, or cider, or sauerkraut, or anything else that is fermented.

We'll be having our annual holiday part at LBC on the second floor. Thanks to Greg and LBC for providing pizza!!! !!! If you can bring homebrew, wine, cider, mead, etc to share that would be great, but isn't necessary. There will be limited beer geekery so bring your significant other. Due to the location this is an over 21 event.

Holiday Bottle Swap:
Bring a a few bottles of homebrew and take home a few bottles of other peoples' brew. Fancy labels are not necessary, but please put te style and brewer on the bottle.

Learn to Homebrew Day @ Jarrod's House

Come on out and learn to brew by brewing your own batch of beer with the help of an experienced club member. We have equpment you can use, and the club will split the cost of ingredients up to $30.

2:00 Beginner Brewing demo and appetizers

Demonstrations along with homebrew samples available out back of People's. Brewery tours, pint and growlers available all day inside.

7/30/2011 - Summer Brew at Nancy and Carl's

Come on out to the banks of the scenic Tippecanoe River for homebrew and food. Arrive any time after noon. Swim in the river, and bring a tent to camp.

5/7/2011 - Big Brew @ Linda and Rick's House

From Linda: Start before or after noon -- I will be starting early. We'll have plenty of water and garden hoses for chilling. Plan is to have a campfire later and if you want to camp, great. Bring food & bring beers if you can, but bringing yourself is the most important thing. So, who's brewing? We are registered as Site #135, and it'll be great to report some gallons of beer getting brewed by the THC on that date!  Details.

Festivities begin at noon. Mast tun, immersion chiller, and other brewing implements.

12/18/2010 Club Holiday gathering

The 2nd floor opens at 6 pm that night and the pizza buffet begins at 7 pm.

There will be door prizes and a bottle exchange. You can bring homebrew for the exchange and to share but no commercial beverages can be brought in to LBC. We'd like a rough count of people so let me know if you plan on attending but if you find at the last minute you can come do so.
